For the arena concert of Majka, I worked as a visual artist responsible for creating large-scale 3D animations for the stage LED system. The show took place in the Papp László Budapest Sportaréna and featured an almost 50-meter-wide LED wall, one of the largest concert visual surfaces used in Hungary.

The overall concept of the concert was set in a speculative near future. The show imagined the world in 2050, and was therefore titled Majka 2050. The visuals were designed to reflect on current political tensions in Hungary and explore potential dystopian futures. I was invited to join the production by the VI Collective, who gave me significant creative freedom both in terms of artistic direction and technical execution.

FUTURISTIC CITY NARRATIVE

“Azt beszélik a városban”

One of the key visuals I created was for the song “Azt beszélik a városban”, a strongly political track dealing with themes such as corruption and the rise of authoritarian systems.

For this piece, I designed a futuristic megacity dominated by a hidden robotic ruler. The robot symbolizes the invisible presence of a dictator—an authority controlling the city while remaining unseen by its inhabitants.

To mirror the song's dynamic rhythm, a fast-moving futuristic vehicle / spaceship navigates through the cityscape while the robotic entity attempts to capture it. The chase escalates until the vehicle escapes through a portal, transporting the scene into a revolutionary environment where the city erupts into flames.

The alternating rhythm between these two visual states—the controlled dystopian city and the erupting revolutionary landscape—mirrors the structural progression of the music.

Seeing this work displayed at such monumental scale in the arena was a powerful experience. Both the artists and the production team later highlighted it as one of the most impactful visuals of the concert.

Multi-screen visual composition on the arena stage

Multi-Screen Visual Composition

Another visual piece I created for the show was built from pre-recorded footage produced by VI Collective. The material included lip-synced and choreographed performances shot specifically for the concert.

Following several creative development sessions, we decided to place the footage within the context of an abandoned industrial warehouse, where the clips would appear on scattered television screens throughout the space.

I constructed the environment in 3D and individually projected the curated video content onto each television. Every screen was keyframe-animated separately, allowing the visuals to evolve in sync with the structure of the music.

The song runs for over five minutes, and my goal was to ensure that each section introduced new visual variations—different characters appearing on screens, shifting effects, and changing scenes—so that the visuals continuously reflected the changing rhythms and emotional dynamics of the track.

Both visuals premiered at the arena concert, and were later used throughout the year during Majka's national tour, appearing at major festivals and concert venues across Hungary.
